Statistics on deaths within 30 days of a fire due to burns or smoke inhalation, as assessed by MSB on the basis of information from the municipal fire and rescue service, the police, the Swedish Transport Administration, the National Forensic Centre (1999-2015) and the national burns centres in Linköping and Uppsala.

MSB have chosen to publish statistics on outdoor fires from 2008, due to problems with missing data for some variables concerning outdoor fires in 1998-2007.
